Description
Vintage Heavy are a contemporary Americana brand designed and produced by people with a passion for both vintage clothing and heritage style. Their vintage inspirations, which range from workwear to military to prep to counterculture and beyond, aren't secret, but they aren't just remaking obvious classics — their pieces are versatile and unisex, as well as hard to find other versions of anywhere else.
Their garments are limited by nature, made in small batches at craftsman workshops in the USA from the best textiles they can source, both locally and from Japan. With a mind for sustainability, they focus on quality over quantity to create stylish garments in classic styles, built to hold up and designed to out-last trends.
Vintage Heavy's Hickory Pants immediately stood out to us due to how unique they were compared to the many, many other hickory pants we've seen over the years. They've got a really interesting fit, with an oversized waist and a slightly dropped-crotch that sits around the hips rather than the waist, like a pair of skate pants in the 90s. They've got a slightly-tapered leg, with a mock "undone hem" at the leg opening that's trimmed with denim.
The fabric is really well done, an indigo hickory stripe that has been washed and aged as part of the finishing treatment, resulting in a very handsome and authentic-looking patina right out the gate that really compliments the loose fit and denim trim "repair" details. Though it's pretty perfect out the gate, it'll continue to fade and patina with wear, particular at the hem and back pocket, which are cut from a mid-wash indigo denim.
It's got some really nice other details too, from the custom branded hardware, woven labels, and stamped leather tag, to the brass zip fly, extra welted thigh pocket, and the darted yokeless construction — they're a very subtly-impressive pant that look great even if you don't notice all the little things.
