Description
Prequel is a modern brand working on historically-adjacent recreations. Using antique textile manuals & catalogs to recreate woven fabrics and patterns from the past, their designs take old-school silhouettes and bring them into contemporary life, updating the fit and shape to work in a more modern world. The end products aren't reproductions, but instead updates to classic styles that have only gotten harder and harder to find.
The Striped Work Shirt is a really classic casual button-up shirt, featuring an easy fit, a classic collar, and two pattern-matched chest pockets. It's a proper blue-collar shirt (very literally), with a simple tonal button placket, and two comfortable full sleeves — cut to a near perfect length, it wears well both tucked in and untucked, allowing you to dress it up or down if you so desire.
The fabric is really unique, a specialty cotton jacquard that was recreated from antique samples. Produced down to the yarn level, this 5.5oz fabric is an easy shirt weight, with a sturdy face and dry texture that will relax a bit over time. The pattern is deceptively complex, with multiple stripes, lines, and squiggles across the face of the shirt.
